Submission to the United Nations - Children’s Rights to Access to Justice and Effective Remedies
The United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner called for submissions on ‘draft general comment No. 27 on children’s rights to access to justice and effective remedies’.
On the OHCHR website, the background to the call for submissions was described like this: ‘In May 2024, the Committee issued a call for submissions inviting all interested parties to provide contributions to clarify terms, approaches and actions States should take in order to implement the right of all children to access justice and effective remedies.’
We decided to write a submission from our perspective as speech-language therapists/communication assistants who work with children and youth in justice settings in Aotearoa New Zealand. You can see our submission amongst the wide range of other received here (in the section Inputs received):
