Professional development for Family Court and Criminal Court lawyers

Over recent years, we’ve had the privilege of delivering conference presentations and specific workshops for lawyers and other professionals working in our courts and in international settings. We have been involved in numerous presentations over the years for legal professionals working in youth justice and adult criminal courts, but in the last few years, there has been a growing interest from lawyers working in Family Court settings. Tomorrow, Sally will be presenting at The Law Association’s Family Law Conference and a couple of weeks ago, she presented to the Nelson Family Law Day. Last year, there was also a presentation at the NZ Law Society’s Family Law Section’s Law for Child Forum.

Lawyers have expressed a need for a wider range of knowledge and strategies to help them hear the voices of the children and whānau they need to talk to, so we have developed specific workshops for Family Court lawyers. We have run these previously as full day workshops, sometimes focusing on specific groups, e.g. Lawyer for Child, but the two we have coming up in 8 November (update 24/10 - this date has had to be cancelled due to unexpected staff leave) this year and 28 February next year, are half-days called Supporting whānau to have a voice in Family Court processes. We tailor the content and the scenarios to the audience. Check out the information and registration details here

If you work in criminal settings, contact us for details of the next workshop specific to your context.
