Court Communication Assistant role

TTANZ is developing experience in NZ legal contexts in a role similar to those undertaken by UK 'intermediaries'. These roles are called  'Communication Assistants' in NZ, and our team have carried out these roles now in both court and other legal settings e.g. Family Group Conferences,  and is involved in a working party to develop appropriate protocols, training and codes of ethics and conduct for speech-language therapists taking on these roles. We strongly encourage NZ SLTs to make contact with us if they are approached to take on a role in a court or FGCs so we can provide background information and support. Contact us to find out more about how to arrange for a court communication assistant assessment or assistance.
