What's coming up in 2019

After a hectic and highly productive 2018 (see more in this previous post), 2019 has already been a busy and it's only the start of February. We're excited about the various training sessions coming up around NZ, including some that are open for public registrations. See below for information about specific Foundation Talking Mats training now available in NZ at a range of venues, as well as how to register for general Talking Trouble 1 day workshops, also being delivered around the country. We introduced a practical workshop task using Lego Therapy/Lego Club into our Talking Trouble workshops in 2018 which proved highly popular. We will also be delivering a wide range of bespoke training in 2019. We're excited about working with Restorative Justice practitioners, Police, Paediatricians, Corrections staff, Oranga Tamariki teams and carers/whānau/families in the next few months. We can offer Talking Mats or Talking Trouble workshops for general or bespoke audiences at other locations, so get in touch if you want some PD in your area, or for your organisation.Communication Assistant roles with children, young people and adults (complainants/witnesses and defendants) are keeping us very busy across NZ Courts and other justice contexts, and we also are providing speech-language therapy assessments and interventions in a range of settings. If you want to know more or refer, see this page.We are involved in a range of projects that focus on using a co-design process to create more communication accessible information and contexts. These projects are taking us into some exciting new territory for speechies in NZ e.g. from ensuring that children and young people understand their rights in care settings, to work in youth justice residences, prisons and Police Custody Suites.
